When pores on your face become clogged there can be more than one reason why. As a result of which, there will almost always be an outbreak of acne. Firstly though, the mechanics behind your acne will have resulted from a particular substance known as sebum. It is waxy and oily by nature and is made up of the body's lipids (fats). Sebum is created in the sebaceous gland, which in turn is an integral part of the pilosebaceous unit. This unit is home to not only the sebaceous gland but also it contains the hair and hair follicle. Your whole body (sparing the palms of your hands and soles of your feet) is covered in tiny hairs, the most dense area of course would be your scalp. The reason we have these tiny hair follicle factories all over our body is because sebum is crucial to the moisturizing of not only your hair but your skin also. However, when too much sebum is created, it can for one reason or another, get stuck in your pores, this creates the right (or wrong, depending on how you look at it) environment for infection and inflammation, resulting in acne. Teenagers are most at prey from acne, since their bodies produce far more sebum from enlarged sebaceous glands. This is why spots are more associated with the youth. Most of the time, spots and acne will be a come and go affair, only a few pimples or whiteheads will make a short lived ugly appearance but unlucky individuals will suffer far more virulent forms of acne, ance conglobata or acne vulgaris to name two. Causes of clogged pores on your face? The places on your face that usually suffer the most will be the chin, the cheekbones and the forehead. A typical reason an individual could be suffering from clogged pores on their face is from irregular or improper cleansing. You should be washing your face once in the morning and once before bed. Throughout the day, oily skin is a magnet for dust, dirt and grime. The stuff literally sticks to it from out of the atmosphere. By washing your face twice a day, you could be helping towards staving off spots. A word of warning though, don't over wash, your skin will fight back if all the oil has been removed, it will create even more to compensate. Cheap brand make up is another culprit, full of chemicals that can stick to your skin and sink into the pores, clogging them up and causing the right conditions for spots. Switch to water based make up where ever possible. Never ever go to bed at night without having first removed your make up. Using a good quality skin exfoliate every few days and a good face mask once a week can help remove any build up of dead unmoved skin cells. Lastly, before you start using any moisturizer, make sure you have picked one that is suited to your type of skin. There is a reason the manufacturers have a range of them. Everyone's skin is different and if you take the time to find out which one suits you, you could be saving yourself trouble in the long run.

Hey Everybody,

I am a big advocate of using natural methods to treat acne, rather than solely relying on prescription medication. However, I do understand that some natural methods may not always be as effective as prescription treatments when it comes to treating some of the more severe cases of acne.

Having said that, if your acne is mild to moderate then perhaps experiment with some natural options rather than opting for treatments offered by your doctor. Obviously I am not a doctor so if your acne is really affecting your quality of life then you should get your skin seen to by a professional.

As you may already know tea tree oil comes from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia which is a plant native to Australia and has been used for thousands of years as a natural treatment for various ailments by the original inhabitants of Australia, the aboriginals. Used in the correct way and in the right concentration, tea tree oil can be as effective as using Benzoyl Peroxide products for acne.

Tea tree oil is an essential oil and is extracted from the leaves of the plant through steam distillation. This process produces a pale yellow oil with a pungent but pleasant odour. Tea tree oil contains terpenoids, which are known to produce antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties. While tea tree can be applied topically (I don’t recommend using 100% tea tree oil, but I’ll come back to that), it can be extremely toxic if swallowed.

You may be asking yourself “why is tea tree oil used in toothpastes and mouthwashes if it is toxic?” Well simply put we aren’t supposed to swallow toothpaste or mouthwash, but if we accidentally do, it’s not usually enough to cause any harm.

I certainly recommend keeping some tea tree oil in the medicine cabinet, because other than using Tea Tree Oil for acne, I find it has many other wonderful and useful properties. I use it for cuts, grazes, stings, boils and just about any other lump or bump that appears on my body!

Tea tree oil contains terpinen-4-ol which is believed to be responsible for it’s antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. It’s these properties which can make Tea Tree Oil effective for treating acne as it is believed to kill the acne causing bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, which lives on the surface of the skin.

I mentioned earlier that I don’t recommend using 100% pure tea tree oil anywhere on the body and especially if you have sensitive skin like me, this is something I discovered after applying concentrated tea tree oil before bed only to wake up looking like I had fell asleep under a sunbed….Rodney Trotter had nothing on me.

Undiluted tea tree oil can cause redness, dryness and irritation so I recommend starting with a concentration of 5%. This concentration will be far gentler to your skin and studies have found it to be almost as effective as many over the counter acne products, but with fewer side effects.

I personally would suggest using tea tree oil in a gel form as it is much easier to apply than the oil itself, and a lot less messy too. Certainly one of the best and most popular tea tree oil based gels on the market is Kiss My Face – Break Out Botanical Acne Gel which not only contains tea tree oil, but also witch hazel, aloe vera, peppermint oil and many other all natural ingredients, all of which are of particular benefit to acne prone skin.

As with all topically applied acne treatments I recommend a patch test in an inconspicuous area, tea tree may be a completely natural product but as different peoples skin reacts in different ways it is better to be safe than sorry. Below is a quick guide on the most effective way to apply tea tree oil (assuming you have done your patch test first! )

Step 1 : Gently cleanse your face with a good quality cleanser (preferably a non-soap non-foaming cleanser). Two of the best cleansers I have ever used are Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and the Acne.org Cleanser. Both are non-soap based and will definitely not dry out your skin even if you have desert dry skin like me. Oh and remember, please do not wash your face more than twice a day..unfortunately you can’t wash away acne! After cleansing gently pat your face dry a soft towel.

Step 2 : Wait a few minutes for your skin to completely dry and using soft circular motions, gently rub in pea sized amounts of the tea tree oil gel onto the acne prone areas of your face. For example, use a pea sized dollop on one cheek, then the other cheek, and again on your chin etc.. This way you can be sure that each area on you face is well covered, and it makes the gel last just that bit longer (important when you’re on a budget ).

It’s also very important to not to simply spot-treat (no pun intended) your acne, you want to prevent pimples from forming, so give em’ hell before they ruin that big job interview!

Thanks for reading guys, James

Hey Everybody,

I just thought I would write a short post on the benefits of using Jojoba oil for acne sufferers. I have to admit something..Jojoba Oil is fairly new to me. Sure, I have heard it advertised in countless shampoo commercials but I wasn’t completely sure of its benefits for the skin and more specifically for acne.

Despite having heard of Jojoba oil quite a while back I refused to put any so called “oil” near my face. The interesting thing is Jojoba oil (actually pronounced ho-Ho-bah, sounds stupid when you say it loud I know) is not actually an oil, but a wax ester.

It comes, obviously enough, from the Jojoba plant which is a native of Mexico and the southern regions of California and Arizona and was originally introduced as a substitute for whale oil when the ban on importing whale oil into the U.S came into effect.

The great thing about using Jojoba oil on your skin is that you can rest assured it will not clog your pores or cause breakouts.

Now I understand that the prospect of experimenting with new products when you have acne is terrifying but please hear me out, I know exactly how you feel.

But if you are still nervous about trying new products always do a patch test, perhaps under the chin. Wait for a week or so, if there is no irritation then the product should be safe to use.

As I mentioned before Jojoba oil is not an oil but a wax ester. I could show images of fancy molecular structures but I don’t want to bore you..or confuse myself . But basically as a wax ester, Jojoba oil is chemically very similar to our own skins natural oil, sebum.

As you may have read in What Causes Acne, the over-production of sebum combining with dead skin cells can form “plugs” which block your pores, allowing the acne bacteria to multiply.

Because Jojoba oil is very similar to the skins natural oil it is actually believed to trick your skin into believing that it has produced enough sebum. This then results in a much more balanced production of sebum over time which may help reduce the frequency of future breakouts.

As I was doing some research I noticed many people encountering the same problem..how to apply Jojoba oil to your skin. Because it is oily in its consistency it can leave a shine on your face, not really a good look. I would recommend using no more than two or three drops mixed with a non-comedogenic moisturizer in the morning and maybe five to six drops mixed with the moisturizer before bed. Jojoba oil is also a fantastic moisturizer and I personally like the smell, kind of woody and sweet.

If you do decide to use Jojoba oil for your acne (and I recommend you do) try to get organic Jojoba if you can, it isn’t much more expensive and at least that way you know you are getting just Jojoba oil with nothing added. Jojoba oil also has many other uses so it is well worth investing in.

The product I use every day is called Acne.org 8 oz. Organic Jojoba Oil and I believe it is easily the best option out there. It’s inexpensive, comes in an 8oz bottle which lasts FOREVER (not literally of course ), has a great cap so you don’t spill or waste the oil, and above all, it’s organic.

Here is a quick list of some of the other uses of Jojoba oil :

    * It can be used as a cleansing oil and is great for removing makeup (my fiancee swears by it!). Just apply it to some cotton wool and wipe away! Then just use a damp facecloth or tissue to remove excess oil.

    * Jojoba oil can be used as a lip balm to keep dry, chapped lips at bay. Just apply to fingertips and rub into the lips.

    * It can be used to prevent dry and rough cuticles. Simply rub in a small amount of oil into the cuticles on a regular basis.

    * Jojoba oil is great for nourishing dry, damaged hair and restoring its shine. Simply add a few drops to the scalp and gently massage in. You can also just rub some oil in the palm of your hands and apply to the ends of your hair. Just remember not to use too much, you don’t want to look like you washed your hair with cooking oil!

Acne and pimples are a problem that needs to be addressed at a deeper level. Most people are just too busy buying topical solutions to control their acne breakouts when they should ideally be taking steps to address the problem from the inside. A diet to clear acne is a great approach as it will help you overcome your acne problems for good. What makes up a general healthy acne diet? A bad diet can result in oily skin which can be a great breeding ground for acne and pimples. Most of the people who suffer from acne are those who have an oily skin type. Oily skin is generally caused by a diet that is very high in saturated fats and trans-fat. It can also result out of diets that are very rich in carbohydrates. In addition to being bad diet acne foods, saturated fats, trans-fat and carbohydrates can also lead to other general health problems such as high cholesterol, increased risk of heart disease, obesity and so on. Diet to clear acne - The 6 Do's 1. Water - Are you drinking enough water? A good way to tell would be to see the color of your urine. If it is not clear, you probably need to drink more water. 2. Fruits and vegetables or color foods - Try to include a good portion of fruits and vegetables in your diet, preferably raw. 3. Essential fats - While saturated fats and trans-fat is bad for you, good fats such as oils from seeds and fish oil are very good for your body and skin. 4. Increase fiber - Increased fiber in the form of whole grains, beans and other products can improve your digestion which will reduce the toxin levels in your body. 5. Avoid alcohol, tea and coffee - Try to avoid or restrict these beverages to normal levels. 6. All the above tips will add up to what is also called as an alkaline diet acne solution where you try to control your acne breakouts by altering the pH balance in your body to favorable levels. Diet to clear acne - The 4 Don'ts 1. Watch your sugar intake - Try to substitute sugar with honey and avoid sugary drinks, pastries or other food items that are drowned in sugar. 2. Avoid refined carbohydrates - It is best that you avoid bad carbohydrates in the form of white bread, pasta etc. 3. Watch the canned food - If you are living on a canned food diet, you could be consuming a huge amount of chemicals in the form of preservatives that will not help your skin problems. 4. Deep fried foods - Instead of deep fried foods, go for steamed or grilled options that are much friendlier for the skin. As you can see from the points above, a good healthy acne diet is one that is also good for your general health as well and you will be well advised to make some changes for the benefit of your skin and your general well being. The tips I just shared above did helped clear my acne(to a certain degree) and I'm sure it'll help you as well. But honestly, if you want clear skin, I'll not lie to you... It's NOT easy and you'll need a detailed step-by-step guide to do it RIGHT. I have read a couple of acne related books and I'd have to say that "Acne No More" covers the MOST grounds. - However, I still dislike certain aspects of the book. I'll reveal them in my acnenomore review here. If you're really interested in my exact story on how I cleared my acne within 3 months, check out http://www.acnenomorereviewer.com

Fifteen million folks suffer the pain of some for of acne. Fifteen million individuals are asking “How are you keeping your skin acne-free? The answer is blowing in the wind. Well, not precisely, but there is an answer, if you are willing to pay attention and then deal with the situation.

However , there is an old wise saying, “If you continue to do what you have always done, you will continue to get what you have always got.” Ask yourself, is that what you would like in terms of keeping your skin acne-free?

Of course not. If you do not know, most of the prescriptions and over-the-counter treatments you pay good money for possibly will help, but will not cure the cause of acne. This stuff only treat the symptoms of some disorder in your body, not the origin. As a result you will need to dig deeper to uncover the cause and eliminate what is causing the obvious part of the problem.

In all actuality, there is probably more going on in your body that isn’t good than your acne is showing. When you fix the acne problem you’ll likely also fix a whole host of other stuff you might not even be aware of. But one is likely to become obvious, how significantly better will feel.

It seems the hormones being out of balance is known as a contributor to acne, nevertheless, there is usually something going on deeper affecting the hormones.

It is possible to do a haphazard application to keeping your skin acne free. That’s do a trial and error method of doing things and seeing what affect they have on your acne condition. Sometime that could be the only real way. But there is probably a better way.

Our bodies talk to us, if we’ll listen. Once an attack of acne occurs it really is a sign of something happening and we aren’t paying attention to what is being said.

So now, you know that you’re being talked to. Listen up and pay attention. To really understand what is going on it’s best to see what works for others. These guys spell it out for everyone in away you’ll grasp and is impossible to ignore keeping skin acne-free.

There are a whole host of over-the-counter applications containing sulfur. Sulfur dries out the pimple. It might be a nice quick fix, but it surely won’t fix the base problem. Hunt for something with 6% or more sulfur for best results.

Another step you can do is drink a whole lot of water. A minimum of 8 glasses a day. Better yet, about an ounce per pound of body weight. Water will flush the toxins from the body and carry nutrients to the cells. A double whammy. Virtually all folks are dehydrated and don’t even know it. No, coke does not take the place of water.

You may also juice up a storm with a few carrots. Down a glass of carrot juice morning and night. Go organic and natural as soon as you can. It’s possible add some apple if you ever like. Beets are good. Use half of one per glass. Drink when you juice it since the vitamins and minerals are soon lost subsequent to juicing.

Keep the pulp to be used in a pot of soup and stews. Or compost it in the backyard.

The only way to keeping skin acne-free is to do this.

Shortcut to realistic things to know about earn money online – go through this publication. The times have come when proper information is really at your fingertips, use this opportunity.

Acne plagues children and adults, it’s a very common skin condition that people have been battling for decades. However, before we talk about How To Clear Acne, we need to briefly address what Acne is. Many folks don’t know that there are 3 major forms of Acne, Acne Vulgaris, Acne Conglobata, and Acne Rosacea. Acne vulgaris is a less aggressive acne type, while acne conglobata is the type you’ll see in the most severe cases. Acne vulgaris gets into the hair follicles and oil-secreting skin glands. These show up as whiteheads, redness, and small boils. Acne conglobata show up as cysts that leads to scarring of the skin. Acne rosacea typically emerge in middle-aged and elderly adults, this shows up as a flushed looked on the face. This long-term skin condition makes the nose and cheeks badly red and may also be in a cloud of pimples.

Acne Causes:

Now we’ll get into what causes acne in the first place. Acne starts in the pores of the skin, where your hair follicles and the sebaceous glands are connected to the skin. The sebaceous glands function is to make sebum, this is a blend of waxes and oils that keep the skin from drying out and prevents the loss of high amounts of water from the body. These glands are assembled in a large amount on the face, and in lesser concentrations on the shoulders, back, and chest. Males are more likely to be hit with a case of acne. Acne tends to start flaring up are puberty due to male hormones(testosterone)male hormones such as testosterone stimulating the cells that line the hair follicle canal. Females also have an growth in testosterone hormones when puberty hits, this is what makes them also favorable to acne.

There’s an increase in the production of the protein Keratin when there’s an increase in hormones. Along with other established fact such as the sebaceous glands increasing in size and increased bacteria, this leads to the blocking of skin pores. Crummy diet and a high toxin load in the colon also play a vital role in the cause of acne. There are also certain pollution circumstances, such as machine oils, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and coal and tar derivatives that may cause plugging up of the pores. Different compounds and chemicals can cause a break out. Certain drugs such as diphenylhydantoin, lithium carbonate, steriods can cause a break out. Some cosmetics, hair creams, picking at or rubbing of the face, hair grease, and over-washing can also cause an acne break out to form. You should note that your skin functions as a third kidney, filtering toxins out of the body by way of the skin. Chemicals and compounds like the ones listed above overload the body’s natural ability to detox.

Clear Acne Fast:

There are many things to account for when it comes to holistic acne treatments. However, there are some things you can do right now to get yourself pointed in the right direction. A good place to start would be switching to a cleaner and diet and increasing clean and pure water consumption. When it comes to a cleaner healthier diet, refined(white) simple sugars and refined starchy carbs should be shunned. Downgrade your consumption of high fat, greasy, and/or fried foods. Refuse highly processed animal milk and milk based products, and abstain from margarine and other hydrogenated oils right now! It will also be in your best interest to curb soft drinks, other carbonated beverages, caffeine, and black tea.

Another thing you can add to your acne fighting arsenal is topical creams and ointments that are natural and effective at clearing acne. These natural creams act in the same manner as your OTC and more brash acne creams. In the way they diminish inflammation and lower bacteria to levels that are more balanced. Tea Tree Oil performs this task very well, it has specific antiseptic abilities and is the dominant skin disinfectant. Though small solutions of Tea Tree Oil might not be perfect for moderate or really bad, you can use more potent solutions in those cases.

There are many more dietary and topical skin elements you need to use up and follow if you ever want to cure your acne for good. If you take these just right measures to fight against ALL the factors that contribute to acne holistically. You will not only clear acne immensely, it will also very much harmonize your overall health and mental well-being further.

Are you prepared to learn How To Clear Acne so you can look and feel your best? Then start taking charge of your body and start clinging to these principles right away!

Acne is a common human skin disease. It can be defined as the chronic inflammatory disorder of pilo sebaceous follicles. It may be characterized by inflammatory or non inflammatory papules, pustules, nodules in its more severe form or scars. The lesions of acne are commonly called pimples, blemishes, spots etc. It occurs mostly in the areas of skin where sebaceous follicles are dense. Areas mostly affected by acne are forehead, cheeks, chin, upper arms and upper trunk. Course of the disorder varies extremely ranging from months to years. There are certain well recognized forms of acne: 1. Acne vulgaris: It is the most common type of acne observed in teenagers. 2. Acne excorie: Squeezing of acne lesions result in scarring and disfiguration 3. Acne neonatorum: It is also known as juvenile acne. It is a manifest of a virilizing syndrome and is usually seen during first two years of life. But in most of the cases cause remains unknown 4. Acne conglobata: This kind of acne is mostly encountered in males characterized by chronic burrowing and scarring 5. Acne venenata: Chemical exposure e.g. tars; mineral oil etc is the cause Acne most commonly occurs in adolescents. It affects more than 90-96% teenagers and may also continue in adulthood. The processes causing acne are similar for skin of all colors. But the darker skin has more effects of acne. It diminishes and tends to disappear over time; however no one can predict how long it will take to disappear entirely. Besides scarring, acne can affect a patient psychologically. It can result in lack of self confidence, depression and social insecurity. Acne occurs due to blocked follicles which may be due to the hyperkeratinization and keratin or sebum plug formation. Sebaceous glands when become clogged with sebum directly results in whiteheads or closed comedone. Naturally occurring bacteria Propionibacterium acnes cause inflammation by producing lipase, splitting the fats into fatty acids and triglycerides which are comedogenic and lead to papules, pustules, or nodules formation in the skin around comedone resulting in redness, scarring or hyperpigmentation. Primary causes of acne may include family or genetic history, hormonal activity (menstruation and puberty), and stress which may result in increased acne severity. Diet factors may include consumption of chocolate, milk, low levels of vitamin A and E. High humidity and temperature may induce severe relapse. Acne should not be taken lightly as it can cause considerable psychological and physical trauma. General treatment of acne includes elimination of acneigenic drugs and chemicals, avoiding chocolates and nuts in susceptible patients. Also avoid greasy cosmetics as they are another reason for acne. Topical as well as systemic treatment may also be given during acne. Tetracyclines, erythromycin, antiandrogens, retinoids are given to treat acne systemically. Whereas in case of topical treatments it is advised to wash the affected area three to four times a day with soap and water. Keratolytic agents such as salicylic acid or sulphur in the form of lotion or cream are given and applied to induce exfoliation. Erythromycin and tetracycline are also available as topical lotions and creams. I had severe acne for many years. There are some things I wish I knew earlier.

Blackheads are those tiny black bumps that you usually see on your chin, nose and forehead. They are annoying, stubborn, and you just can't get rid of them easily. There are many solutions that you can do to make them disappear. Picking blackheads, however, is not one of them. I know you can't help but touch your face and pinch those pesky black bumps. I know how that feels like to be obsessed about removing those awful little stressors. Take it from me. Doing this is extremely bad for your skin. Why? Reason number one is that touching your face alone spreads bacteria. Bacteria, when combined with oil and dirt, instantly cause acne and other skin problems. Reason number two is that erroneous squeezing of blackheads causes scar. Sure, the scars are easy to conceal but pinching affects the pores surrounding the area you squeezed. This makes more blackheads appear on the other areas. Wait! There are more reasons to scrap the picking idea. Reason number three is that your blood vessels might be damaged if you squeeze or pinch your blackheads. Unfortunately, only a pricey laser treatment can remove or restore the damages made in your skin. Still not convinced why you should not pick your blackheads? Reason number four is that picking blackheads creates more problems than when you started. If you happen to pick them incorrectly, the clog in your pores may be pushed further away from the top layer of the skin. This causes a lump and can only be removed by your dermatologist. However, it will create a large hole in your face once removed. To top that, it is very difficult to cover up a big and deep hole on your face. So do you still want to pick your blackheads? Instead of picking your blackheads, why not start clean? You can cleanse your face every day to avoid the formation of the black bumps. The daily cleansing unclogs your pores and removes the oil and dirt accumulated all throughout the day. If the blackheads are already in your face, you can remove them by using pore strips. In addition, stay away from smoking, alcohol, spicy, fried and unhealthy food. Drink about eight glasses of water daily to hydrate your skin. If you want, you can look for natural homemade remedies to use on your face. One sample remedy you can use is tomato. Slice your tomatoes and then put them inside a container (or preferably a zip lock bag). Place this container inside the freezer and let the tomatoes freeze. Gently massage them to your face once they are frozen. You may find it uncomfortable but tomatoes are really good in exfoliating your skin and removing the blemishes. If you are not too comfortable with this remedy, there are more recipes online that you can do at home without the hefty price tag. Picking blackheads is not safe. Even the lightest or the friendliest pinch will still cause more trouble than you had before. Instead of picking, why not cleanse your face daily or do homemade remedies for them? I bet they are more effective. Mick J Jones is a health and beauty enthusiast who wishes to help those who have skin problems.
