If you prefer to use home remedies for acne, you will find no shortage of them to choose from! Some people feel that home remedies for acne have fewer side effects than other treatments and they also are easier on the budget. No matter what your reason is, there are some home remedies that have become well known for being effective.

The first thing you should do is to keep from touching your face. Sebum (oil) clogs your pores and this is when acne occurs because bacteria get trapped in your pores. When you touch your face you leave more bacteria on your skin and cause your pores to produce more sebum, in turn clogging your pores even more. If you avoid doing this you can reduce future breakouts. A lot of people don’t realize how much they place their hands on their face when they go to sleep at night (which is usually directly after they have washed their face). Try to remember to place your hand under your pillow instead of under your cheek. This is one of the easiest home remedies for acne.

You can also try making an ointment out of berries and applying it to your skin. This is not scientifically proven, and no one is really sure why it works. However, it is suspected that it is because of the high levels of salicylic acid in the berries. You can use any berries you want and get the same results.
Cinnamon has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, and for this reason it is effective in controlling acne. Simply rub it onto your skin. There are some minor side effects, which are a mild burning sensation as well as a tendency to make the skin feel slightly raw. If you feel like this is happening to you when you are applying it, rinse it off right away.
Garlic is one of the standard home remedies for acne. Do not put it on your entire face; just use it as a spot treatment on the affected areas. It is said that sometimes you can put it on before bed and see results in the morning!

Some people regard toothpaste as one of the best home remedies for acne. There is a high fluoride content, so it may not be recommended for some. For this reason it wouldn’t be a good idea to use this remedy too often. People that do use it just place little dots of toothpaste on their pimples at bedtime and then rinse it off in the morning. It is said to dry them out fairly quickly.

Cucumbers can be used to clean your pores and remove bacteria. It will also have a soothing and moisturizing effect. Many people say that they have experienced great benefits from using cucumbers.
Orange peels are high in vitamin C, which is good for treating acne. You can either rub it right on the affected area or grind it into a paste to apply all over your face. Either way has been said to work well as an acne treatment.

These are just some of the many home remedies for acne.
